·        Did you know that the Lichfield Morris Men teach traditional dance on a regular basis to people of all ages and abilities?

·        Did you know that Morris dancing is good exercise as well as great fun?

·        Did you know that the earliest record of Morris dancing in Lichfield found so far is 1747 (unless your research can uncover earlier evidence)?

·        Did you know that Lichfield Morris Dances are named after, in many cases, actual historical events?

·        Did you know that the Lichfield Morris Men perform regularly throughout the year?

To develop control, coordination, balance, poise and elevation involving travelling, jumping, turning, gesture and stillness.

To perform movements or patterns from existing dance traditions.

To develop reposes to music through dance using contrasts of speed, shape, direction and level.

 

KEY STAGE 2

To sustain energetic activity over appropriate periods of time.

To experience the short-term effects of exercise on the body.

To include some traditional dances of the British Isles.

To respond to music through dance.

 

KEY STAGE 3

How to prepare for particular activities and recover afterwards.

The role of exercise in establishing and maintaining health.

To perform dances showing control and sensitivity of the music and the style of the dance.

To perform set dances from traditions from the British Isles

To describe, analyse and interpret dances, recognising aspects of production and cultural/historical contexts.

 

KEY STAGE 4

To evaluate aspects of dance, including choreography, performance, cultural and historical contexts and production.
